Daily Podcast Listeners Continue to Listen to More Podcasts

Podcasts have become more and more popular over the past few years. A new study looked at trends related to podcast audiences. graphic showing a microphone and the words "podcast boom"

According to the Podcasting Today: Insights for Advertisers report from Nielsen, just over half (56%) of people who listen to podcasts on a daily basis have been listening more frequently over the past two years. And 52% of this group have increased the number of podcasts that they listen to.

Additional study findings included:

  • Daily podcast listeners are almost equally divided between those who have been listening to podcasts for longer than two years (49%) and those who just started listening within the past two years (51%).
  • Over the past two years, the number of podcast series has increased to over 2 million (a 163% increase from two years ago) and the number of podcast episodes has increased to 92 million (up 173% over the past two years).
  • Even though daily podcast listeners are listening to more podcasts, they are still resuming their pre-COVID activities, such as buying groceries in person, driving in their vehicles, having get-togethers with family and friends and more.

If your organization offers podcasts, are you seeing an increase in the number of listeners?
